Joseph Kenneth Scollan (1/29/28-9/11/17)

On September 11, 2017, Joseph "Ken" Scollan went to be with the Lord. He was 89 years old.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife Gloria Marie (nee Vento) who together, carved out a life spanning

66 years. He is also survived by his five sons; Daniel, Kenneth, Patrick, James and Joseph. He

was the beloved grandfather of eleven and great-grandfather of eight. He is survived by his sister

Mary and reunited with his late siblings; Felix, John, Frank, Patrick and...

On September 11, 2017, Joseph "Ken" Scollan went to be with the Lord. He was 89 years old.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife Gloria Marie (nee Vento) who together, carved out a life spanning

66 years. He is also survived by his five sons; Daniel, Kenneth, Patrick, James and Joseph. He

was the beloved grandfather of eleven and great-grandfather of eight. He is survived by his sister

Mary and reunited with his late siblings; Felix, John, Frank, Patrick and Irene. A Navy veteran,

Ken was born in Bayonne, NJ. He lived on Staten Island for 70 years, raising his family and working

at an oil refinery in Bayonne NJ. After retirement, he worked at Staten Island University Hospital,

driving seniors to medical appointments. Ken and Gloria moved to Manahawkin NJ thirteen years ago.

An avid sports fan, Ken enjoyed staying up to date with local sport teams and events. Dating back to

the days of Joe DiMaggio and Yogi Berra, he still recalled details of games played at Yankee Stadium in

what he called the "good old days." He enjoyed gaming, be it Atlantic City, cards with friends

or chess with family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, Sept 15, 2017 from 9:00am-12:30pm at the Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home, 10 Hilliard Dr., Manahawkin, NJ 08050. A funeral home service will be held at 12:30pm.
Burial will follow at the Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 350 Provinceline Road Wrightstown, NJ 08562
